Building diagnostics are an important tool in the home performance and energy efficiency business. Infrared (IR) imaging (also called thermography) shows air leakage patterns and poorly insulated areas. Stonehenge Associates offers infrared diagnostics throughout New York State, as well as parts of Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut and New Jersey.
At Stonehenge, we use the latest high-tech infrared scanners, sometimes in tandem with the blower door, to evaluate the effectiveness of your home’s thermal envelope. Infrared cameras can pinpoint major problems that can be solved with proper air sealing and insulation, resulting in energy savings.
Reveal Issues With Your Building’s Energy Efficiency
Diagnostic tools such as blower doors and IR cameras not only reveal air leakage areas, but also help identify thermal bypasses. These are places where the framing of the walls, floors and ceilings between a ‘conditioned’ living space and an unconditioned space act as a conduit for air leakage. They are hidden gaps in the building envelope, and can negatively affect indoor air quality, especially if the unconditioned space is a garage.
An IR scanner also reveals areas where insulation isn't performing properly due to settling, poor installation, or because there just isn’t any! IR can also yield some interesting surprises, like where an uninsulated hot water pipe or recessed lights may be contributing to an ice dam, for example.
Diagnosing and analyzing air leakage patterns and missing or poorly installed insulation is one of the key ways that Stonehenge Associates can help you improve the comfort, health and energy efficiency of your home or commercial building.
Thermal Imaging Works For Homes and Commercial Buildings
Thermal imaging is a valuable part of any good home energy audit, and a step that we guarantee to take with thoroughness and precision (although our experience tells us that it can also be a fun part of the energy audit for homeowners). Infrared services are available as stand-alone services or as part of our comprehensive home energy audit and commercial energy audit services throughout the Albany and Utica areas.
We take pride in a high level of customer service and go the extra mile to ensure that our customers are 100% satisfied with the work that we do.
